Q. How do I purchase an item from TheHouseDesigners.com?
A. Whether you purchase a house plan or any other item from TheHouseDesigners.com,
simply place those items in your shopping cart, then proceed to check-out.
TheHouseDesigners.com will accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and
Discover. We can also accept a personal check with delivery after the check
clears.
Q. Is my credit card information secure?
A. Yes. TheHouseDesigners.com has the most advanced secure software that
encrypts all of your personal information. Including card numbers, name
and address.
Q. How do I know my order has been successfully received and processed
by TheHouseDesigners.com?
A. After placing your order, TheHouseDesigners.com will send you a confirmation
via e-mail with shipping information.
Q. What is TheHouseDesigners.com's return policy?
A. Customer satisfaction is our priority, therefore The House Designers (THD) offers a full exchange of your house plan order for an equal number of house plan blueprints from the same plan collection within 30 days of the original order. Simply return the entire content of your original order and an exchange will be processed for a 20% exchange fee plus the difference in cost — call 866.957.5267 for further details. If the returned blueprints look used, redlined or copied, we regrettably will not be able to honor your exchange due to copyright rules and regulations. Plans with modifications, Reproducibles and CAD files are not exchangeable. Plans are not returnable other than as stated above.
Q. When ordering house plans, how many plan sets do I need?
A. In addition to a set for yourself, you will probably need to order a
set for your builder, mortgage lender, local building department and
subcontractors.
Q. Can I purchase one set of plans and have them copied?
A. All of our blueprints are protected under the copyright law and
cannot be copied. It is more cost effective to order multiple sets at the
time of your original order. If you need additional sets, they can be purchased
at a special price within sixty days of your original order.
Q. How is the total living square footage determined?
A. Total living square footage is calculated from the outside face of the
stud to the outside face of the stud. For brick, it is calculated from the
outside face of the brick. Total living square footage includes only the
heated area of the house and does not include the garage, storage areas
or bonus rooms.
Q. What is reproducible vellum?
A. Reproducible vellums are ideal if you intend to make changes to the plan.
They allow qualified architects and engineers to modify the design without
having to completely redraw the plan.
You may use one of the following items to remove the image from the vellum
paper (these items can be purchased at a blueprint/drafting supply store):
- Xerographic eradicator fluid such as Michlin film eradicating fluid applied
per manufacturer directions.
- A dark grey ink eraser in an electric eraser.
Q. Why aren't HVAC, plumbing and electrical details included?
A. Because local HVAC codes, climatic requirements and commonly used systems
vary dramatically throughout the country. Also, we don't know which direction
the water flow will enter your house or where the electrical feed will enter.
Your local HVAC contractor, plumber and electrician can determine the best
layout for your new home.
Q. Do you offer preview plans?
A. Study plans and materials lists are offered on most plans.
Q. How often do you release new plans?
A. We are constantly developing and releasing new plans. You can view our latest plans by selecting 'New Plans' from our drop down style box on the search page.
Q. How soon will I receive my order?
A. Depending on which plan you select, you will have a variety of shipping
options to choose from (ground, 2 day, and next day). We ship within one business day of receiving
the order.
Q. How do you handle international orders?
A. For all international orders, simply place your order online and your plans will be shipped directly to you within one business day. If you have additional questions, simply call us at 866.957.5267.
