Here is what you should know about the copyright laws regarding the residential home design and building industry:
  • When you purchase a set of blueprints you do not gain right of ownership to the plan. You have simply purchased a limited license to build that structure one time, and one time only.
  • You cannot sell, give away or let some borrow the blueprints.
  • Without the consent of the architect or designer photocopies or reproducing the plans, blueprints, drawings or any related artwork is strictly prohibited.
